Summary

The Collaborative Endocrine Surgery Quality Improvement Program (CESQIP) is a cloud-based QI initiative that allows surgeons, programs and institutions to monitor their outcomes in thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, and pancreatic/neuroendocrine procedures.  Designed by endocrine surgeons to be inclusive and easy to use, CESQIP is accessible, accurate, and cost-effective.

CESQIP uses continuous quality improvement to view outcomes through patient-centered data collection, with ongoing performance feedback.  Based on collaborative learning, and providing real-time reporting, CESQIP provides flexible and protected data access, and  further enables the transition to shared accountability care/payment models. Patient safety is enhanced through CESQIP’s best practices, decision support, and care pathways. By providing defined, true long-term outcome analysis, CESQIP represents an innovative platform for multidisciplinary collaboration at the regional, national and international level. In this webinar, Dr. William B. Inabnet will demonstrate and discuss the benefits of participating in CESQIP.

Speaker Bio

Dr. William B. Inabnet III is the Eugene W Friedman Professor of Surgery, Chief of Metabolic, Endocrine and Minimally Invasive Surgery and Surgical Director of the Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism Institute at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.  Dr. Inabnet attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he received his undergraduate and medical school education.  He completed his residency in general surgery with Dr. Richard Prinz at Rush Medical College and Rush-Presbyterian-St Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago, IL.  Dr Inabnet then completed a fellowship in endocrine surgery at Cochin Hospital in Paris, France where he trained under Professor Yves Chapuis, a world leader in the field of endocrine surgery and targeted parathyroidectomy.

An international authority in the field of minimally invasive endocrine surgery, Dr Inabnet has pioneered new techniques in minimal access endocrine neck surgery as well as adrenal and pancreatic surgery. In 1998, he helped perform the first endoscopic thyroid resection in the United States and has helped advance the field of video-endoscopic neck surgery. Dr. Inabnet is also a leader in the field of minimally invasive metabolic surgery with an interest in disorders of the endocrine system in obese patients, especially type 2 diabetes. Dr. Inabnet has participated in national and international clinical trials evaluating the role of gastrointestinal surgery in treating diabetes. He holds numerous leadership positions in the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons, American Association of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, the American College of Surgeons and the American Thyroid Association.

Dr. Inabnet has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, as well as 3 textbooks with 2 more under preparation. He lectures throughout the world and was inducted into the Southern Surgical Association, the American Surgical Association and French National Academy of Surgery, a rare honor for non-French surgeons.
